A new case study of the Samriddhi project documenting lessons from market systems development in Bangladesh is now available to download on the Hub website. Samriddhi combined SDC-supported projects of Livelihood, Empowerment and Agroforestry (LEAF) and Sustainable Access to Agroforestry Knowledge, Technology and Information (SAAKTI), which have contributed to remarkable achievements in the provision of information, knowledge and technology to rural small-holders.

The project perceives poor people as economic actors either in their function as producers, consumers or labourers, but at the same time members of communities which strive for joint improvement and inclusiveness. Extreme poor and poor people which have difficulties to access economic opportunities on their own are actively participating in community planning exercises and get access to job and income opportunities through that.

Samriddhi’s goal is to achieve inclusive and sustainable market changes where the market participation of the poor and extreme poor is supplemented with common community based activities. The project follows a community-based approach developing the human and institutional capacities of community based organisations and platforms to define their development priorities, support economic activities and include poor and extreme poor as well as marginalised households both in social and economic activities.

The Monitoring and Results Measurement (MRM) system follows the Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) standard and complies with it to a large extent. Overall learning of the Monitoring and Results Measurement (MRM) is available at: http://www.sdc-employment-income.ch/en/Home/Private_Sector/PSD_Main_Topics_and_Resources/Results_Measurement_in_PSD?searchString=&searchCategory=

The experience of implementing the five stages of the M4P project cycle is shared in the case study
